Almwelt & Wirkes Launches Automated Warehouse Logistics with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and BE-terna

2 min read • Oct 29, 2026

With the successful launch of an automated AutoStore warehouse at its new location in Dietmannsried, in Germany's Allgäu region, Almwelt & Wirkes has reached another milestone in its digital transformation. Working together with BE-terna, the company implemented the necessary processes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central while also enhancing its webshop logistics. These developments lay an important foundation for future growth.

Automated Warehouse Logistics Meets Modern ERP Technology

The new AutoStore warehouse system went live in October 2026. The automated warehouse technology is a key component of Almwelt & Wirkes new logistics infrastructure.

One particular challenge during the integration was serial number management. As the AutoStore system does not provide this functionality itself, the required logic was implemented entirely within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The ERP system therefore plays a central role in managing automated warehouse operations, connecting the requirements of the warehouse technology with existing business processes.

Enhanced Webshop Processes for Flexible Order Fulfillment

Alongside the introduction of AutoStore, the company also redesigned its webshop processes.

Orders can now be fulfilled from various warehouse locations at the company's headquarters, including the hanging garment warehouse and the new AutoStore facility, as well as from its retail stores. Inventory and order lines from different locations can be consolidated within the order fulfillment process.

This redesigned process enables more flexible use of available warehouse locations and supports the company's continued expansion.

Keyfacts

  • AutoStore Go-Live: October 10–14, 2026
  • New location in Dietmannsried, Allgäu
  • Project duration: approximately ten months
  • Serial number management implemented in Dynamics 365 Business Central

Successful Partnership Continues

In November 2024, Almwelt & Wirkes and BE-terna had already successfully completed the migration from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with BE-terna Fashion. Since then, the modern ERP platform has provided the foundation for the ongoing development of the company's business processes.

The new logistics project marks the next chapter in this successful partnership. Following approximately ten months of project work and an effort of around 120 person-days, another important go-live was successfully completed.

The project demonstrates how a modern ERP solution can continue to evolve beyond its initial implementation, enabling companies to integrate new technologies and adapt to changing business requirements.
