Global Foods Trading modernizes the wholesale food trade with Infor M3

From cash-and-carry to international wholesale

Over the past four decades, Global Foods Trading GmbH (GFT) has grown from a local cash-and-carry business into one of Europe’s leading wholesalers for Asian food products. The company operates state-of-the-art warehousing and cold chain logistics centers in Germany, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, as well as a production facility and office in India. Each year, more than 9,800 customers in 29 countries rely on GFT for high-quality Indian and Asian food products.

Turning isolated systems into one solution

The company’s previous ERP system lacked the scalability needed to support international growth. In particular, the absence of multi-tenant capabilities hindered collaboration between locations and led to significant manual effort during version updates. These structural limitations called for a complete realignment.

GFT set out to implement Infor M3 – an integrated, future-ready system designed to increase transparency across the business and unify processes in procurement, logistics, and finance.

Why Infor M3 and BE-terna?

By choosing Infor M3, GFT opted for a powerful ERP platform with multi-tenant support and a flexible architecture – ideal conditions for scaling internationally. To address its industry-specific needs, GFT partnered with BE-terna and drew on its extensive expertise.

One example is the development of a sophisticated packaging logic for inner and outer cartons – a key element for warehouse management. Working closely with BE-terna, GFT implemented this process-oriented solution, including automated stock transfers and inventory monitoring.

Close collaboration, practical solutions

The first go-live took place at the company’s headquarters in Biebesheim. GFT’s project team worked closely with BE-terna, refining many requirements during the project and implementing them through close coordination.

One of the project highlights was the development of a modern route planning solution, which – for the first time – brings together all logistics-relevant information in one view. Instead of relying on Excel spreadsheets, the new digital system provides greater clarity, transparency, and flexibility – including for returns and reorders.

Results: What’s already working better

The rollout of Infor M3 has already brought noticeable improvements in key areas. Procurement and finance now work within a single integrated system, simplifying processes such as invoice approvals and postings. Collaboration with the logistics team has also improved – stock levels, transfers, and orders are managed more efficiently.

In the warehouse, the first processes have been automated: predefined thresholds now trigger stock transfers, and packaging logic is systemically mapped. The planned rollout of BE-Mobile will take operations a step further with digital scanners and real-time data on site.

What started as a necessary system upgrade became a shared learning experience for GFT – defined by clear roles, mutual trust, and strong commitment from both sides.
