Nera: What is the job of Data Analyst like?

When and why did you join BE-terna as a Data Analyst, what initially drew you to the company?

In the autumn of 2018, I was on my last year of university and I wanted to work in the industry. I find data analytics very interesting, so I joined BE-terna in September 2018 as a student in the BI department.

What is the job of BI consultant like at BE-terna? What is a typical day like for you?

The main goal of BI consultant is to help customers easily detect which business decision affected positively or negatively to the company. We are doing that with data analysis of each company. The biggest advantage of job is that you can be a part of business intelligence analysis in various industries like fast moving consumer goods, automotive, car rental, manufacturing, bank…
My typical day consists of daily meetings with team members, meetings with customers, developing in Qlik and finally making interesting visualizations in a shape of bar plot, tree charts, mekko charts for customers.

What are the pros and cons of being as a Data Analyst?

Pro of BI consultant job is that for each project you have new kind of problems that you need to solve because every industry is different and has its own requirements. For me, this trait makes the job always interesting, but on the other hand at some point that can be difficult for some people.

What does it take to be a BI consultant?

To be a good BI consultant you should have mathematical and logical thinking, eagerness to learn new technical things every day and being ready to be up to date with technology.
