Sintex: An ERP upgrade from AX to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management by the book

4 min read Apr 02, 2025

Founded in 1997, Sintex, a specialist in sinter technology and a member of the Grundfos Group, currently employs around 150 people. To meet growing corporate security requirements and support their long-term ambitions for a scalable and future-proof ERP platform, Sintex decided to move away from its outdated Dynamics AX 2009 system.

The company selected Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, and chose BE-terna as its strategic implementation partner. The close collaboration and efficient project execution enabled a smooth go-live without production downtime. The project also led to significant improvements in operational workflows, data insights, and overall employee experience.

Short introduction to Sintex

Sintex develops, manufactures, and delivers magnetic systems and powder metal components for a wide range of industries, including energy, water treatment, and the automotive sector. As part of the Grundfos Group, Sintex operates in an environment where IT security, data structure, and operational efficiency are mission-critical. With global deliveries and a strong focus on precision and traceability across the entire value chain, a modern and stable ERP solution is essential for both daily operations and future growth.

From outdated ERP to a future-proof foundation

Before the project began, Sintex faced several challenges with its legacy ERP system. Dynamics AX 2009 no longer met the growing requirements from its parent company, particularly regarding IT security and compliance.

Sintex needed a new solution that could integrate seamlessly into Grundfos’ IT ecosystem while also supporting its internal business needs. The main objectives were to enhance data security, improve usability, and enable smoother production and logistics processes. Additionally, they sought a partner who could offer personal, responsive support. The key selection criteria were chemistry, communication, and reliability. The ERP decision landed on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management—and the implementation partner of choice was BE-terna.

A future-ready ERP built on trust, speed, and collaboration
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management was selected because it supports both the technical and business needs of Sintex. The platform enables integration with Grundfos' broader system landscape and offers scalability for future growth.

BE-terna played a central role in designing and implementing the solution, applying a low-customization approach that maximized the use of standard features. This not only accelerated the implementation process but also resulted in a system that is easy to maintain and update moving forward.

The ERP system was configured with a strong focus on production and logistics efficiency, robust data integration (including with Microsoft Power Platform), and an intuitive user experience. BE-terna worked closely with both IT and business teams at Sintex to ensure all processes were mapped, understood, and aligned with standard system logic without unnecessary complexity. The collaboration was marked by transparency, flexibility, and solution focus, even under tight deadlines.

“We experienced a process where BE-terna demonstrated a strong understanding of both our business and our IT requirements. One of our key success criteria was avoiding production downtime—and our customers didn’t notice the switch at all. That in itself is a quality mark.”

— Mikkel Meidal Joyce, Senior ERP Specialist, Sintex

From project start to go-live in record time

The project followed an ambitious timeline to meet Grundfos' internal security requirements. Despite the short implementation period, critical deadlines were met without any major disruptions to operations.

BE-terna applied a structured, phase-based approach with continuous checkpoints, which created clarity and confidence throughout the process. Due to the fast pace, there was limited time for standard end-user onboarding before go-live. To address this, Sintex and BE-terna established clear procedures for ongoing support, hands-on training, and fast troubleshooting in the early phase. The system was quickly adopted, and users responded positively—especially to the improved user experience and more intuitive navigation.

“One of the best aspects of working with BE-terna was definitely the communication. It was clear, and it was easy to get in touch with familiar people on their team exactly when and where we needed them.”

— Jimmi Sørensen Lind, Business Controller, Sintex

The collaboration between Sintex and BE-terna is a strong example of how an ERP project can be executed quickly and efficiently—without compromising on quality or security. With Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, Sintex now has a robust, scalable, and future-ready foundation for digital operations and continued growth. This project highlights that the right match between customer and partner, and a shared sense of direction, is key to successful digital transformation.
