Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, one of the largest traditional clubs in German football, needed a new POS system that was to work in a fully integrated fashion as part of an ERP update. In addition to being both highly scalable and highly available, the POS solution also had to have a simple customising option to meet professional football’s ever-changing requirements. BE-POS met exactly these requirements.

The fan shops in the stadium, in the My Zeil shopping centre and in the Riederwald district of Frankfurt am Main were to be equipped with the POS system. The fan mobiles for home and away games, plus a till in the VIP area, were to be integrated into the system via Mobile POS. 28 POS workstations in total had to be connected to the ERP system. The IT department, which with the support of Protakt redefined the processes and procedures and optimised existing processes, turned to BE-terna in December 2016 with a presentation request.

BE-POS exceeds all expectations

Once the POS solution based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV was presented and a workshop was held in January, the kick-off with the test system installation took place at the beginning of February. The final BE-POS release was rolled out, and training sessions held, at the end of March. The first major test followed at the home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on 1 April. For Eintracht, the game was unfortunately a nil-nil draw, but the POS solution exceeded expectations. Thanks to the training concept applied in advance, the cashiers were well prepared for the onslaught of fans. Fans of the Eagles crammed into the fan shop in the sold-out Commerzbank Arena, and there wasn’t any respite for the mobile fan shops in the outdoor areas either. Over 1,200 transactions were made in the short space of time between fans being admitted to the stadium and kick-off.
